If state law allows one can buy a long gun (rifle or shotgun) in a neighboring state, but all handguns must be purchased in the buyer’s state of residence. a photo ID is all that is required in my state and for me that’s my license but I can’t say for all states there is so many different laws would be hard to keep track.
