The vent is just above the lower bracket attachment point. The second, closeup image shows the vent directly in the center of the picture – a round hole in the cowling just above the bolt that attaches the engine to the mounting bracket. Honeslty I can’t see where the water is comming from in those pictures.
Why does my mercury 30 hp engine pool up?
When the engine is running, there is water basically everyplace in that cavity. When you shut it off, there are places for it to pool up. In colder temperatures this is a problem because that water can freeze, and cause damage. So what they do is put those holes in there so that when you trim up, any residule water would drain out of that area.
