How do you turn on the PTO on a Kubota tractor?
Depress the clutch with your foot. Push forward on the lever below the console, on the left, to shift the power-take-off (PTO) into gear. Release the clutch to engage the PTO.
How does a PTO engage?
The PTO is engaged and disengaged using the main transmission clutch and a remote control mechanism which operates on the PTO itself. Typically, an air valve is used to engage the PTO, but a mechanical linkage, electric or hydraulic mechanism are also options.
Where is the PTO solenoid located?
According to the service manual, the PTO solenoid is this silver cylinder with a 2 pin connector on the end. It is located on the left side underneath the tractor in the vicinity of the hydraulic oil filters behind the rear left tire.
How to troubleshoot installation of a PTO system?
Hydraulic systems require an adequate supply of fluid so be sure you have added enough fluid to fill the system and replenish any fluids that may have been spilled during installation. Make sure inlet lines are not crossed with outlet ports and vice versa and check the hydraulic/ pneumatic schematic.

Check to see if the woodruff key is missing from the output shaft. Are all the fasteners in place and tight? Verify that the extend shaft is installed in the housing. If it is a cable shift, confirm that the shift lever moves enough to properly engage the gears. If it is an electric shift, make sure the wires are connected.
